For decades, AudioQuest’s AC power cables have been gaining momentum and respect for bringing lower distortion and higher performance not only to the audiophile high-end, but also to Sonos devices, Apple TVs, cable boxes, radios, CI racks, etc. While AQ’s high-value NRG cables are relatively flexible and easily accommodate a wide range of electronics, they consistently deliver the goods — better audio and video for many more people.

Now, the Storm Series of AC cables don’t embody just incremental evolution — though that’s always a good thing — instead, they demonstrate a category jump. Two crucial AudioQuest design features allow the Storm Series models to dramatically outperform all previous AudioQuest AC cables: ZERO-Tech for uncompressed current transfer and RF/ND-Tech, which minimizes circuit misbehavior by cancelling induced RF noise.

Available with C13 and C19 plugs, High-Current Storm Series cables are designed to work well in any application but are specifically capable of the uncompressed current transfer required for amplifiers, receivers, subwoofer amplifiers, and power conditioners.

The AudioQuest Storm Series Source AC power cables are not appropriate for use with AC power conditioners, power regenerators, AC isolation transformers, AC battery back-up devices, as well as any power amplifier, powered subwoofer, powered loudspeaker, powered receiver, or integrated amplifier. These products will require greater RMS and transient current capacity. For those applications, we highly recommend selecting the AudioQuest High-Current AC power cables.

When used with AudioQuest's award-winning Niagara power products, High-Current Storm Series AC power cables create a truly optimized Low-Z Noise-Dissipation System.

  • Uncompressed High Current Transfer: With current capacity of 20 amps, FireBird High-Current can withstand current transient peaks many times its continuous RMS rating. This makes FireBird High-Current ideally suited for a wide assortment of AC power conditioners, power regenerators, AC isolation transformers, and AC battery back-up devices, as well as any power amplifier, powered subwoofer, powered loudspeaker, powered receiver, or integrated amplifier.
  • High-Purity Conductors: A carefully finessed combination of high-purity Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) and Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of ear-fatiguing transient intermodulation distortion. The astonishingly smooth and pure metals further eliminate harshness and greatly increase clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N and other premium coppers.
  • Solid 100% Perfect-Surface Silver RF-Drain Metal: Direction-controlled 100% PSS RF Drains maximize the dissipation of RF-noise from the line and neutral shields to ground via the third "ground" pin. The net result is powerful, dynamic, and immersive.
  • ZERO-Tech for Uncompressed Current Transfer: While many AC power cables feature low DC resistance in order to accommodate the demand for high current, a cable’s characteristic impedance is also crucial for optimal performance. Unlike most AC cables that constrict or compress an audio-provoked transient, AudioQuest AC cables combine low DC resistance and zero (no) characteristic impedance in order to deliver uncompressed transients on demand.
  • RF/ND-Tech: Greatly reduces the distortion caused by induced RF noise, yielding unprecedented levels of noise dissipation across the widest bandwidth (range) of radio frequencies possible. AudioQuest's unique circuit topology uses a common-mode phase-cancelling array, in concert with proprietary dielectric materials which provide additional differential linear filtering.
  • 72v Dielectric-Bias System (DBS): AudioQuest’s patented DBS creates an electrostatic field that molecularly optimizes the cable’s insulation (dielectric). This minimizes distortion by increasing the dielectric’s efficiency at high frequency, resulting in clearer sound emerging from a “blacker” background. The inclusion of an RF Trap (a proprietary technology developed for AudioQuest’s Niagara Series of power products), further reduces induced radio-frequency noise.
  • Hanging-Silver over Red and Beryllium Copper Plugs: AudioQuest’s best AC plugs enable even lower distortion and better dissipation of high-frequency noise than the high-quality molded plugs used for the Wind Series’ models.
  • Direction-Controlled Conductors: All drawn metal strands or conductors have a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so that noise is drained away from where it will cause distortion. A fundamental aspect of AudioQuest’s multifaceted Noise-Dissipation technology, Direction-Controlled Conductors ensure induced noise is dissipated and drained properly.
