For decades, AudioQuest’s AC power cables have been gaining momentum and respect for bringing lower distortion and higher performance not only to the audiophile high-end, but also to Sonos devices, Apple TVs, cable boxes, radios, CI racks, etc. While AQ’s high-value NRG cables are relatively flexible and easily accommodate a wide range of electronics, they consistently deliver the goods — better audio and video for many more people.

Now, the Storm Series of AC cables don’t embody just incremental evolution — though that’s always a good thing — instead, they demonstrate a category jump. Two crucial AudioQuest design features allow the Storm Series models to dramatically outperform all previous AudioQuest AC cables: ZERO-Tech for uncompressed current transfer and RF/ND-Tech, which minimizes circuit misbehavior by cancelling induced RF noise.

Of course, tried-and-true AudioQuest technologies are also present in the Storm Series. The flagship model Dragon Constant-Current (Source) features AudioQuest’s Solid Perfect-Surface Silver conductors that have been carefully controlled for directionality to drain RF-noise away from where it would cause the most harm. AudioQuest’s patented 72v Dielectric-Bias System (DBS) further reduces radio-frequency noise. Moreover, Dragon adds 100% Silver RF-Drain metal to more efficiently dissipate harmful RF noise.

Like all models in the Storm Series, Dragon features AudioQuest’s best AC plugs, comprising Hanging-Silver over Red and Beryllium Coppers, for lower distortion and improved dissipation of high-frequency noise.

Available with C13 and C19 plugs, Source Storm Series cables are optimized for use with audio/video source components and computer peripherals that consume low-to-moderate current. The smaller conductors and enhanced Noise-Dissipation topology were specifically designed to yield the greatest possible level of performance from source audio/video components (disc players, DACs, high-performance turntables, preamplifiers, etc.).

These Source AC power cables are not appropriate for use with AC power conditioners, power regenerators, AC isolation transformers, AC battery back-up devices, as well as any power amplifier, powered subwoofer, powered loudspeaker, powered receiver, or integrated amplifier. These products will require greater RMS and transient current capacity. For those applications, we highly recommend selecting the AudioQuest High-Current AC power cables.

When used with AudioQuest's award-winning Niagara power products, High-Current Storm Series AC power cables create a truly optimized Low-Z Noise-Dissipation System. Clean power is the foundation to any great audio/video entertainment experience. Treat yours to the ultimate upgrade with AudioQuest Dragon.

  • Optimized Current Delivery: With current capacity of 12 amps RMS, Dragon Constant-Current is ideally suited for a wide assortment of high-performance source components (media players, streamers, DACs, preamplifiers, computer peripherals, and more).
  • High-Purity Conductors: High-purity Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of ear-fatiguing transient intermodulation distortion. The astonishingly smooth and pure PSS further eliminates harshness and greatly increases clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N and other premium coppers.
  • Solid 100% Silver RF-Drain Metal: Further enhances the efficient dissipation of radio-frequency noise away from where it will harm the delicate audio signal.
  • ZERO-Tech for Uncompressed Current Transfer: While many AC power cables feature low DC resistance in order to accommodate the demand for high current, a cable’s characteristic impedance is also crucial for optimal performance. Unlike most AC cables that constrict or compress an audio-provoked transient, AudioQuest AC cables combine low DC resistance and zero (no) characteristic impedance in order to deliver uncompressed transients on demand.
  • RF/ND-Tech: Greatly reduces the distortion caused by induced RF-noise, yielding unprecedented levels of noise dissipation across the widest bandwidth (range) of radio frequencies possible. AudioQuest's unique circuit topology uses a common-mode phase-cancelling array, in concert with proprietary dielectric materials which provide additional differential linear filtering.
  • 72v Dielectric-Bias System (DBS): AudioQuest’s patented DBS creates an electrostatic field that molecularly optimizes the cable’s insulation (dielectric). This minimizes distortion by increasing the dielectric’s efficiency at high frequency, resulting in clearer sound emerging from a “blacker” background. The inclusion of an RF Trap (a proprietary technology developed for AudioQuest’s Niagara Series of power products), further reduces induced radio-frequency noise.
  • Hanging-Silver over Red and Beryllium Copper Plugs: AudioQuest’s best AC plugs enable even lower distortion and better dissipation of high-frequency noise.
  • Directionality: All drawn metal strands or conductors have a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so that noise is drained away from where it will cause distortion. A fundamental aspect of AudioQuest’s multifaceted Noise-Dissipation technology, Direction-Controlled Conductors ensure induced noise is dissipated and drained properly.
